Rosetta Isaacs

Sister of Sir Isaac Isaacs

Rosetta was the sister of Sir Isaac Isaacs, the first Australian born Governor General of Australia. (1931-36). She was born at Yackandandah in April 1863, and died there in October 1864. The Isaacs family moved to Beechworth from Yackandandah in 1867, where young Isaac attended school, was a teacher here and later a State and Federal politician and was a Chief Justice of Australia’s High Court before being appointed Governor-General.
